The Disabilities Network could not do its work without YOU, our valued members and donors.
That's why we'd like to thank Dr. Irma Jacqueline Ozer for kicking off our first Major Giving Campaign. Dr. Ozer is a lawyer and
author of several articles on disability issues.
Dr. Ozer was inspired to give after learning of the breadth of our work. "I chose to make my donation to the Disabilities Network because it is a young and burgeoning organization covering many disabilities."
As an attorney, Dr. Ozer has worked in disability law since 1996. As a Program Specialist in Disability Rights at the NYC Department of Correction, she negotiated reasonable accommodations and reviewed allegations of discrimination. She has also worked on behalf of disabled children and adults with private law firms, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Bellevue Hospital.
Dr. Ozer has published nationally and internationally on disability in law and literature, specializing in epilepsy. As a Ph.D. in German literature, she wrote her thesis on mental illness in the work of female fiction writers.
Dr. Ozer retired in 2006, due predominantly to multiple sclerosis. Since then, she has become an active member of the Disabilities Network and Disabled in Action. She chairs the Network's Employment Committee. More recently, she has become involved in the area of Asperger's syndrome.
Thank you to Dr. Ozer and to all who've given over the past several months. Donations of ALL sizes count. YOU make our work possible.
